Ohkubo's Creative Vision and Character Design

Creator Atsushi Ohkubo designed the series by blending serious action with comedic interruptions, drawing inspiration from Dr. Slump to balance intense moments with humor. He intentionally made Maka a female protagonist to counter the male-dominated shōnen genre, pairing characters of opposite sexes to ensure gender equality.
